How to Accessorize your Home

Accessories- I love them and you should too and let me tell you why. First let’s talk about accessories for an outfit. You just put on this rocking cute outfit and then by adding adorable tassle earrings or a few bangles it is all of a sudden that much better. It’s amazing what a few finishing touches can do- to not only your mood but to your whole outlook! Sometimes if I put on a really simple dress- I will add a really bold necklace, or pair of really fun colored shoes. See my pictures below 🙂 bright yellow shoes with jeans and a white tee & a big chunky sparkly necklace to compliment a simple black jumpsuit.

The same way you accessorize your person, you can accessorize a room. However, there is such a thing as too many accessories in one place. You wouldn’t wear 3 different necklaces with one printed top- right? Right. One of my favorite things to accessorize is a table. It really is the center point of a room and let’s be honest- it holds A LOT of stuff. . My favorite way to accessorize a table is with a tray. To me, putting everything inside a tray is still staging and accessorizing but it feels more organized all in one tidy little place. Trays are so multi-functional though and aren’t just for the tables in your home. You can use them on your counters, ottomans, the back of your toilet, a guest bed…really anywhere! They add such a nice decorative touch.

You can find trays almost anywhere including antique shops. Find one you like- this is your base. Next let’s think about realistically what we can put in/on the tray. I like to stick with a few essentials. Some sort of basket or holder for remotes or potpourri. You can see a few examples below. I’m also a firm believer in coasters (they save your furniture) and again- they have so many pretty coasters out there now- it’s a fun little touch. Maybe add a little potted plant or vase of flowers (fake or real that’s up to you), a candle, a decorative jar or candle sticks, or maybe a small stack of books. Before you know it- your tray will be full and styled and everything has a place but it’s still functional. Also- if you need to clean it off in a hurry it is easy to just put other items in the tray and move it. Check out some tray inspo below and click on the links! If you see a tray you like- you can shop right from this page!

Obviously trays are not the only thing to use to accessorize your home- but for this post it is 😉 . More to come in the future on other accessories that you can use to simply add to a room!
