It’s beginning to look a lot like…

I won’t say it- but you know where I am going with this one. It’s October 1st, which means the end of the year is around the corner. I have no idea where September went or the entire year for that matter- but before you know it, the Holiday’s will be here. August seems to be the month where everyone is getting ready to say good-bye to Summer and hello to Fall. Fall clean up begins, and stays until the very last leaf has fallen and then overnight its Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Happy New Year! So while the outside of your home is prepping for $*#! (the other S word), the inside of your home gets neglected and time is not on your side once the “ber” months roll around!

Let me help you before you get to that panic moment of having to decorate to host family and friends for the Holidays. Maybe you haven’t noticed, but the retail stores are already there and itching for you to be too. You could buy Halloween decorations in July and yes, the turkey decor and “Thankful” signs have been out for a solid month. Now, I am pretty last minute with most things, except decorating. Which means you are still allowed to be last minute if you let me help you. Decorating or hosting the Holidays is not the thing most people look forward to at the end of the year. Spending time with family, yes- hosting and cleaning dishes and cooking- no! I can’t help you with the cooking or cleaning, but with the hosting part, I can! This doesn’t mean you have to go out and buy a new table, or an entire dinner set (unless that’s what you had in mind)- we can work with what you have and maybe incorporate a few new pieces! Don’t let the happiest time of the year get you down because your home is not where you hoped it would be. Just maybe don’t wait much longer to start thinking about realistically what you want to do to get ready for the Holidays!

Painting a room is the easiest way to change the look of a space. Changing out a rug, a light fixture, new chairs, adding a new art piece to the wall- all of these things, can be done in a few hours or less and completely change a space! Now, if you were looking to rehab your kitchen- still don’t panic- I can help you there too, we just need a little more than a few hours! Emily’s Interiors has a package where you and I can shop together, or hang at your house and brainstorm together or rearrange furniture, or decorate, or whatever it may be that you need to do to prepare for what is coming at us very quickly!

However, if you are thinking of a major renovation before the Holidays, I hope you have a contractors phone number because time is ticking and everyone that isn’t last minute, has already been booking them. Lucky for you, if you don’t know a contractor- I do! Remember last year when you said “next year”, well it’s here! Did you dream that this year at Christmas you would have a new kitchen? Or that your dining room would finally not be so drab at Thanksgiving? Do you have family in town for a few days? That guest bathroom that only you see is finally ready for some new tile! Yes, bigger projects can be overwhelming, but decorating doesn’t have to be! I apologize for making you already think about the Holiday’s when Fall has just barely arrived, but it really is the most wonderful time of the year and I want you to be able to enjoy it with your loved ones in a home you love!

xoxo, Lexi

  1. Love the Rustic Christmas. I live in South Florida and holiday decorating is a very big deal down here. It starts now for Halloween and continues through New Year.

Some great ideas. Can’t wait to start working on some on some of them.
